Before I decided to enroll in the OGTC, I entertained a notion- such notion- I began to notice, was far more widespread than I had initially assumed. I thought, “It would be a waste of time to attend the OGTC if I’m not sure I’m going to be a missionary. ” I thought it would be a waste of time to study missions and not be a missionary. I believe this to be at the most insidious and at the least utterly false. As I have attended the OGTC, I’ve been able to take part in classes that helped me to mature spiritually. It makes sense, right? Missionaries are supposed to be spiritually mature, right? Absolutely! It is essential to equip missionaries with the proper implements to overcome the adversities that will beset them on the field. But, why should they be so equipped? When did we as Christians become complacent in our walk with God thinking that a mature walk is only necessary if one is a full time minister? The things I have learned at the OGTC will prepare me for the mission field, however, they will also prepare me to witness to my friends, disciple the unlearned, study the Bible, prepare sermons, and further my walk with God. During my time spent at the OGTC, I have taken classes in: evangelism, understanding narratives in the Bible, New Testament survey, time management, money management, being approved unto God… The list goes on. The fact is, the things I have learned here are things every christian should strive to learn. Since joining I have a better understanding of the Bible, effective ways to study, and good ways to manage my time and money; if I were to quit today I would be better equipped for the rest of my life than if I had gone to college for a year. If you are considering being a missionary the OGTC is one of the best places to learn, but if you are in the group of “I’m not sure I’ll be a missionary”, then join up. I am confident that the things you learn here will not be useless, your time won’t be wasted. Don’t waste your time, join the OGTC now!
