I Chronicles 16:24 Declare his glory among the heathen; His marvellous works among all nations. 25 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: He also is to be feared above all gods. 26 For all the gods of the people are idols: But the Lord made the heavens.
I have had thoughts before that God didn’t really care about world evangelism in the Old Testament but that was because I never really read it closely. God has always cared about all the nations. In this passage David said, “declare God’s glory among the heathen and God’s work among all nations.” There is no one greater than the Lord, so He needs to be greatly praised. God should be praised because he is the Creator. God wants praise, and His people should tell all the nations because He is so great. That is basically what David said. My thoughts were wrong; God has always desired that the world would know how great He is.
But here is the application: they were told in I Chronicles that they were to declare God’s glory and His marvelous works. And the same holds true with us today. God wants the world to see what He has done and who He is. That is our job while we are still alive. We are to declare His glory and His good works to all the nations. So how are you fulfilling this desire that God has? Are you involved in world evangelism? If not, why don’t you surrender your life to take the gospel to the world?
