1 Chronicles 19:13 Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God; and let the Lord do that which is good in his sight.
Joab and his brother, Abishai, went out to war with the Syrians and the children of Ammon. Thousands of warriors were standing in the front and the back of Joab and Abishai. They were surrounded. So Joab said he will take the Syrians and told Abishai to take the children of Ammon. But before they went to battle Joab told his younger brother these words: Be of good courage (trust God) and act like a brave warrior for our soldiers and God’s people. And let God do what He wants.
You might wonder what this has to do with world evangelism. We need men who will be like Joab and be of good courage. They need to trust God and not waver. They need to go out and fight for God without wanting to quit or run away. We need men who are courageous and will help others be courageous as a result. We need men who will encourage others to trust God if we are going to reach this world with the Gospel. And we need men who just trust God no matter the outcome. Missions work is difficult work, and if it is going to be done in our generation we need special kind of men.
