Kanon was born to Donald and Joy Bloom on March 3, 1992. He is the oldest of 12 children. Kanon was blessed to be born in good home, a Christian home. It was in this home that Kanon was saved at the age of 16 and it was in this home that Kanon was taught how to be a man. For those of you that know Kanon, if you give him a job to do, it will get done. He doesn’t back down from the work that is given to him. He is diligent and doesn’t waste time. That is because he grew up in house that taught him the importance of hard work and character. Anyone that has had the opportunity to work with Kanon realizes he is not like the current generation. Mr. and Mrs. Bloom, thank you for raising such a godly young man. Thank you for the foundation that you laid in this man’s life.
Before Kanon came to Vision, God was working in his heart to do something in missions after a 3-week missions trip when he was 18 years old. Around the age of 19, after contacting numerous missionaries about the opportunity of working on the mission field, Kanon went to Brazil for 8 months. While he was there he learned Portuguese and worked with a veteran missionary in Brazil. Kanon had a desire to take the gospel to the world but he knew that there was something lacking. And that is when Ty Pepperdine introduced Kanon to the OGTC in Jan 2013.
In March 2013 Kanon started his studies at the Our Generation Training Center. God gave Kanon fruit while he was in the Training Center. Kanon was involved in ministry while he was in the Training Center. He did an excellent job heading up our outreach ministry at Vision. He worked in the children’s ministry and teen ministry. He started a Friday night bible study that where he saw Angel Sanchez saved. He was active in discipling other people in the church. Justus Mize has said that it was Kanon who got him interested and gave him an opportunity to get involved in ministry. God gave Kanon fruit while in the OGTC. Kanon was busy working and God was working through him. Any teacher that had Kanon in class knew that Kanon would do quality work. Kanon was the man. He did his 6 month internship in China and struggled to work in the language.
Now I hope I have given you a picture of a young man who is hungry to do something for God. Because that is the way that I view Kanon. He is a special Man. Kanon finished his internship last September. And while he was in China Kanon was booking meetings for deputation so he could get back to China quickly. In the past 8 months Kanon has raised 22% of his support. He got married in those months and he has only 3 openings this year. Kanon has killed it. He is on track to be back in China with only spending 2 years on deputation.
We get the honor to celebrate a man and his accomplishment. Mr and Mrs Bloom, you should be proud of this Man. Vision Baptist Church we get to send a choice servant to China to the mission field, we should be proud of Kanon. Kanon I am very proud that I can call you my friend, congratulations.
