David here in Psalm 37 is giving us some wisdom from his life, and I believe that the truth that is taught in this chapter can change one’s life.
Look at what he says here in Psalm 37:25 “I have been young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread.”
This is no young man but rather an aged veteran of life, and he is giving some wisdom and encouragement for us to follow.
And just like all the bible, there is a mountain of truth that one can be taught here. And some of the Wisdom that David is giving us is this, Don’t worry about yourself with the way of the wicked. They will get what is coming to them. Psalm 37:1-2 “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, Neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.”
In this chapter notice what the bible says about the wicked or the evil.
They shall be cut off, and their seed will be cut off vs. 9, 22, 28, 34
They will not be. vs. 10
The Lord shall laugh at them. vs. 13
Their swords shall enter into their own hearts, and their bows shall be broken. vs. 15
Their arms shall be broken vs. 17
They shall perish. vs. 20
But Today’s purpose is not to focus on the wicked, but instead today I want to focus in on God’s people.
I want to show you what David through the Holy Spirit is telling us to do.
Trust in the Lord with your way; with your steps. Look at 3-5 “Trust in the Lord, and do good; So shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; Trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Then David penned these famous lyrics in this Psalm. If you would please look Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: And he delighteth in his way.”
And that is the focus for today. God ordered his people (the good man’s) way or our steps.
I love this quote. “You should never live in the past, but it is good to look to the past.”
Think about how your steps have been ordered. Think about your past. Think of your testimony, think of your life story of how you got to be where you are.
If you are God’s child you need to know that the Lord has ordered your steps. Can you see God working in and through your life? Do you know that you have a purpose? Do you know that He has kept you and he is working in and through you? You can trust him. Because you have seen your past and what he has done. You can trust him with whatever comes your way.
